Member States of the United nations adopted the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) in September 2000, to affirm their commitment to achieving sustainable development. The 2005 CITYNET Congress is devoted to strengthening the understanding and adoption of MDGs in Asia-Pacific cities, and forging partnerships to promote development in mutual coordination.
This Congress is an additional opportunity to involve Asian-pacific cities and donors in PRO ACT.
The programme comprises of thematic sessions out of which some are directly dedicated to PRO ACT, sub-regional forums, a donor forum, technical visits and CITYNET member events such as the Executive Committee, in which the Greater Lyon is invited to take part as a member.
